Kumo the Frog Ninja Rig
Meet Kumo the Frog! This character was created by Michelle Lumowa.
I was very lucky to have the opprotunity to help bring her character to life! We worked closely to create a rig that could meet the needs of the animation she had in mind. As she was the animator and creator for this project my job was to create a stable rig that could achieve extreme posing.
This character features a number of advanced features while remaining animator friendly. This includes a stretchy chain weapons prop and a dual IK leg system to achieve the best results when animating.
Claymore Rig - Clare no.47
I created this character in my Characters For Games class taught by Damon Woods. Making this lo poly character from scratch taught me a lot about reading and understanding the connections between rigging, modeling, and texturing.
This was the first rig I ever put together. I am currently in the process in remaking the rig to update this character to reflect everything I've learned since first learning the fundamentals of rigging and barely understood them.
This rig is currently being redone.
Orc Rig
This character was created by Adam Eli.
I was very fortunate to have studied alongside Adam. As we approached our final term I pitched to rig the Orc character for my Demo Reel and it evolved into a team effort to create and push everything he have learned up to our final term at Gnomon.
This Rig took several fundamentals and systems I had developed through other rigs. Using these previous ideas to help our animator achieve the very best for our final animation. Using IK Splines throughout the cloth and hair to give control for reactive posing while animating.
Abyssal Rig
Abyssal was created by Vanessa Torres. This was intended a student project and I was given the opportunity to Rig this character alongside others.
Abyssal is a mostly FK rig as this character floats and never interacts with any other objects besides their trusty Urn! I used this opportunity to limit the system and constraints used as the rig would end up in Unreal 5 for the final result.
Using IK systems to drive the chains for the head to create a floating helmet effect and IK to drive the chains for the Urn so the chains would just be along for the ride!
Raven Sorceress Rig
A character by Sam Spincher! This was such a fun rig to work on and bring to life for Sam.
This rig features tons of fun secondary animation controls. The feathers, hair, belt, and cloth setups create a unique setup driven for use in the game pipeline. This rig includes a Dagger and Dueling sword.
With it's already unique and fun look I wanted the rig to highlight those features. It includes a full joint based face rig and responsive cloth setup to keep control in the animators hands!
Major Kusanagi Rig
This character by Ben Ramos was inspired by the show Ghost in the Shell. Based of the main character Major.
This rig features all the usual bells and whistles. But the big highlight for it is the the joint based face rig that works alongside a suite of facial blendshapes.
I streamlined the rig to be optimized for use in Unreal 5. All the blendshapes are prepared to be brought into engine for further use during gameplay to help the animation team. Since the face is a joint based rig this helps in creating custom facial animations while using blendshapes to help hone those poses.
Woods Witch Rig
Woods Witch was created by Ben Ramos. This character focuses on clothing sim in Unreal 5 and features a Yeti groom in engine to achieve the best real time results.
Helios Rig
Helios was created by Ben Ramos. This sturdy knight was sent off on an adventure through our student project.
I learned a lot working on this rig. As it was an earlier rig it is being rebuilt currently. The rig will be posted soon!
Candy Cart Rig
This Candy Cart model was created by Elaine Proux for her animation "The Candy Crusader".
I had the opportunity to work with Elaine on this rig for her animation. We reviewed the shots of the overall story and decided on what the Cart Rig needed to be able to achieve while animating.
It can be shook around while the cart wheels stay in place. It features a fall apart constraint systems so at anytime it can all be disconnected and animated to fall apart. This was such a fun rig to figure out and create a rig that would help Elaine in her epic tale!
